Whether it's a special celebration or just a day by the seaside with a difference, First Charters has been creating memorable sailing days for private clients since 1982. We know how to do it and you can be sure we will make the most of your day with us.

Special occasions or just for fun

Whatever the occasion, if your group would enjoy some sea air and their own private yacht, First Charters can help you mark the day in a very original way. Of course, you might just want to treat yourself to a well earned break. Whatever your reason, the Solent is perfect for day sailing. Hardly more than an hour from London by train, between the New Forest and the Isle of Wight, it offers so many different day sailing opportunities.

High energy or a gentle cruise

If you want a workout, a beat up to Yarmouth will certainly blow the cobwebs away. The run back should also let you fine tune your spinnaker handling skills. Our skipper will be pleased to help improve your crew with some informal tuition if that’s what you’d like. For a totally different kind of day, a gentle cruise to Newtown Creek can be very special. The narrowness of the entrance adds some excitement to the arrival but once inside this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful anchorages on the South Coast, in the heart of a nature reserve.

The Medina and Beaulieu Rivers

Real Ale enthusiasts often like to sail to Cowes on the Isle of Wight and then work their way up the Medina to a famous yachtsman’s hostelry where they can sample the local brews. Another favourite cruise, this time deep in the New Forest, is the Beaulieu River and its charming yacht harbour at Buckler’s Hard. Here many famous ships of Nelson’s Navy were built from oak grown in the New Forest.

Get involved or leave it to us

Our skipper and crew can manage the yacht between them if that’s what you want. However, many of our clients like to get involved with trimming the sails, steering and even navigation. Whichever you prefer, our priority is to give you the kind of day that suits you best.

Catering to your taste

Our crew will be pleased to serve you with your favourite food and drink throughout the day. First Charters can even provide a RIB if you’d like to explore backwaters or have some high speed fun. You can also use it for memorable photographs of your yacht under full sail. In fact we can manage every aspect of your day including transport and accommodation if required.
